Affiliate Marketing Blog – WordPress Speed
When you setup your Affiliate Marketing Blog your site speed is paramount for your site to be found. WordPress Speed is of the utmost importance.
When I first setup Empire Digital Resources the other day, I did it totally wrong. The site was not even using the Cloudflare CDN which comes with the SiteGround hosting. It was. I just set it up incorrectly!
Why are you sharing this information?
I feel that the way affiliate marketing will grow is only if guru’s stop being guru’s and share the wealth of knowledge so that we can all benefit. Unfortunately there are a few that will do that. I’m no guru. Not even close.
I do however have knowledge from setting up blogs in the past incorrectly and never fully understanding the true power. I wanted this blog to last for years and generate passive income for me and my family. In order to do it, I needed to make sure this affiliate marketing blog was setup correctly.
When I first setup Empire Digital Resources it looked like this. Notice the timestamp is Friday Apr 27, 2018 at 10:19am.
The SiteGround support, which by the way are fantastic and super quick, said that was acceptable. Uhm, not in my eyes.
I dug around on Google and found out 3 important things I needed to fix. Once I fixed them, my site went from the above to this. Notice the timestamp is Friday Apr 27, 2018 at 11:37am.
Now I could take it even further and fix the cookie free domains thing, but even the below 3 items I fixed happened to almost screw up my site really bad.
Proceed with caution! There are two places where you can really screw things up bad and make your site “disappear” in one case.
- Make sure social sharing buttons do NOT appear on the main page of your site. I use Jetpack to put mine out there. Just put them on the post page.
- W3 Cache use the minify settings as shown here
3. Install Autoptimize and use the settings shown here:
That took me from the B/D grade you see above to a A/A grade you also see above. The site loads faster and is totally acceptable in my eyes now.
There are likely more tweaks I could do such as the use cookie free domains, but the point of having a blog once you get it tweaked and optimized is to write content – like this! Helpful content as well as reviews of great products.
